A New Division Built on 60 Years of Experience
Oakwood has been a trusted name in waste management and demolition for over 60 years. Building on that legacy, we've launched Oakwood Carpet Recycling — a specialist division dedicated to tackling one of the UK's most overlooked waste streams: carpet and underlay.
Every year, millions of tonnes of carpet end up in landfill. We're changing that. Through dedicated collection, expert sorting, and established recycling partnerships, we process post-consumer and post-commercial carpet waste and ensure virtually nothing goes to landfill.
Why Choose Oakwood Carpet Recycling?
Zero Landfill Guarantee
Every tonne of carpet waste we receive is diverted from landfill — either recycled into new materials or recovered as SRF for energy generation.
ESG & Sustainability Reporting
We provide full documentation and waste transfer notes, helping you meet compliance requirements and demonstrate environmental responsibility to clients, investors, and regulators.
Flexible Collection & Drop-Off
We accommodate drop-offs at our Edmonton facility and can arrange regular or one-off collections via our logistics network.
60 Years of Waste Management Expertise
Backed by the experience of Oakwood Plant Group, you can trust that your waste is handled responsibly, compliantly, and with care.
Part of the Circular Economy
The materials we recover don't just disappear — they become new products. PP carpet becomes plastic pellets. Underlay becomes new underlay. That's real circularity.
How It Works
Carpet waste is received at our North London facility or collected via our logistics network. We work with HWRCs, commercial fitters, construction sites, and MRFs across the region.

Collection & Delivery
Carpet waste is received at our North London facility or collected via our logistics network. We work with HWRCs, commercial fitters, construction sites, and MRFs across the region.
Sorting & Classification
Every load is hand-sorted and classified into four categories:
-
Underlay — sent for remanufacture into new underlay
-
Polypropylene (PP) Carpet — processed into plastic pellets for new product manufacturing
-
Secondary Fuel Carpet — shredded and baled for use as Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)
-
Exhibition Carpet — classified and routed to the appropriate downstream process
Processing & Baling
Materials are processed on-site using specialist shredding and baling machinery, maintained by our engineering partner Sabre Engineering. PP carpet is baled and sent to Innovate Recycle in Northamptonshire, where it is converted into polypropylene pellets for use in injection moulding. Underlay is baled and sent to Ball & Young, where it is remanufactured into new underlay products.
Sustainable Recovery
Carpets not suitable for plastic recycling are shredded to 40mm, baled, and exported as SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) — an alternative to fossil fuels used in energy-intensive industries. The result: zero landfill from every load we receive.
